About Pop 4 Diabetes
Pop 4 Diabetes is a non-profit fundraising organisation that works hard to raise funds for continuing research into finding a cure for type1 Diabetes.
Beneficiaries of our work include global charity JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and UK charity Diabetes UK. This year we will be adding a local beneficiary the diabetes research department at Bournemouth Hospital to our list of beneficiaries.
Pop4Diabetes was started by Iris Board of Poole, Dorset after her son Shane was diagnosed with type1 diabetes (also known as juvenile diabetes)
Since 2007 the main event in the Pop4Diabetes calendar has been the 'Pop4Diabetes Charity Dinner' at the Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth, which enjoys the support of celebrities such as Paul Daniels, Steve Brookstein and popular acts from talents shows 'Britain's Got Talent' and 'X-Factor'. Other supporters have included stars from Hollyoaks Eastenders and Coronation Street. Connie Talbot, Hollie steel, 2 Grand, Cheeky girls, Steve Norman from Spandau Ballet and Shelley Preston from Bucks Fizz.
Due to tragic circumstances in 2010 'The Christopher Hall Memorial Award' was introduced to commemorate the death of Christopher Hall at 6 years.

Pop4Diabetes and JDRF came together in 2010 to give out the 'Child of Courage Award' given out to children who show amazing courage in dealing with their own diabetes.

2011 brings an exciting new 'Summer Spectacular' show to The Lighthouse Theatre in Poole. This event has been added to coincide with World Diabetes week in June and also with the release of Shane's excellent new single 'Your Day Will Come'.
