Remembering Little Chris
The mother of little Chris Hall, who was tragically killed last year, has handed over £2,500 to a diabetes charity in his memory.
Rachel Wild, who works at Allfix in Poole, made the donation to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), in honour of her six-year-old son.
The money was raised by staff at the Leyland Road store with a raffle of donated prizes Little Chris, know as Loy, was killed by his father, also called Chris Hall, who then committed suicide. Both died from mixed drug intoxication at home in Parkstone in August.
The schoolboy had Type 1 Diabetes, and since his death his loved-ones have striven to raise money to help beat the disease.
Rachel told the Echo: “Thank you for everyone’s amazing effort and support in helping to raise such a great amount. May the money help to benefit children like Chris who have to manage diabetes each day.
“I will keep raising money in memory of little Chris – Loy – and to help find a cure for other children like him.”
Allfix Director Martin Davis said: “We were all deeply touched by the tragic death of little Chris Hall last year. We hope that by raising this money we can help ensure that children in the future will not have to live with Type 1 diabetes as little Chris did.
He thanked suppliers and customers who had been ‘extremely generous’ in helping raise the money.
Nicole Gerrard, senior fundraiser at JDRF South said: “This is a truly outstanding amount raised from a raffle and it simply would not have been possible without the drive and determination of the local community, Allfix staff and their customers.”
As well as the raffle money, almost £2,000 more has been raised for JDRF at Rachel’s site www.justgiving.com /loy There she writes: “Thanks for taking the time to visit this page in memory of my precious little six-year-old boy who was taken from me.
“Every day is such a struggle without him.”
